Beach Repairs Agreed

The beaches of San Pedro de Alcantara were some of the hardest hit during the recent storms that left much of the coastline battered. There were times when it was impossible to tell where the sea should have ended and the promenade started because it was all a mass of sea and waves.

Not only did this bring destruction to many properties and beach bars but it left the actual beaches in a terrible state.

Sand was washed away and there were huge craters left in its place. Stones and rubble was shifted high up the beaches and litter was strewn everywhere.

The storms were by far some of the worst the people of San Pedro de Alcantara had seen in decades. Many residents were left in tears at the sheer devastation that was left behind.

As soon as there was calm many people set about trying to clean up the beaches and work began to try and put things back together again, but there is only so far one can go without additional funding.

This week however a major announcement has confirmed that there will be 220,000€ allocated specifically to San Pedro de Alcantara to help repair the beaches and get them ready in time for the 2017 tourist season.

This news has been welcomed by all residents of San Pedro and the work will start as soon as it is deemed that we are through the stormy weather.
