San Pedro has many parks scattered around the town that are ideal for both those who are on holiday and residents who wish to take their kids out to have a good run around. So parks for parents are a must!
The boulevard is the best-known park in the middle of the town, a modern avenue with an urban park of 54,000m2 with cafés, restaurants, an amphitheatre (which is used by skaters too) and various children’s playgrounds along its length featuring zip lines, swings, a lighthouse slide, sand play areas, seesaws, roundabouts, spring riders, playhouse, wooden playground structures with bridges, monkey bars and jungle gyms, chin-up bars, fountains and plenty of areas for children to play.
Other public parks can be found around the town, such as the one located in C/Virgen del Rocio, just next to the church. This one is great for both parents and children as there is a cafeteria/restaurant where locals celebrate birthday parties, with plenty of space for children including a playground area and a wooden pirate boat. It is especially popular in the later hours of the afternoon as the area is then in the shade.
Another good spot is Parque del Barco – the boat park in Avenida Mediterraneo (the main road that goes down to the sea). It features a playhouse, swings and slides. It is set right next to a real fishing boat (set as a monument, not be climbed!), and in front of the well-known Da Bruno restaurant.
Other parks can be found in and around San Pedro such as: Parque Eucaliptos (eucalyptus park), right next to the Maria Teresa Leon public school on the Avenida Oriental Road that leads into town. It offers a table area for picnics, El Arquillo Sports centre, a public space well visited by the locals for basketball and football areas, as well as a bicycle circuit perfect for beginners situated at Calle Vega del Mar. There are other smaller parks in Fuente Nueva, Calle Felicidad, in Urbanización Pepina Sur a small park right next to the beach side of Cortijo Blanco, and for a nice stroll or bike ride, the Paseo Fluvial Ramon Garzón, a river side walk at Guadaiza river with a 1,8-kilometre bicycle lane and activity area, which connects with the beach area.
Last but not least, is San Pedro’s main park, Los Tres Jardines (the three gardens), with nine hectares, including a forested section, duck pond, wooden bridges, doggy park, two playground areas including zip line, picnic tables, and plenty of green areas to relax.
